Suri Duitch serves on the Board for Avodah.
Suri Duitch is the eighth president of Kingsborough Community College (KCC) in Brooklyn, New York, which educates 20,000 students each year to earn associate degrees and move on to careers and further education, to learn English, a high school credential, or a credential to advance in their field of employment. KCC’s students reflect the enormous diversity of the college’s home borough, originating in over a hundred different countries, with the majority being the first in their families to go to college. Suri previously served in senior roles at Tulane University, where she led a college for working adults, and at the City University of New York (of which KCC is a member institution), where she oversaw adult and continuing education and workforce development for the system, which is the largest urban university in the United States.
Suri has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Columbia College, Columbia University; a Master’s of Social Work in Community Organizing from Hunter College/CUNY, and a PhD in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center. She has two children who are young adults, both currently enrolled in college. Her interest in Jewish communal work and social justice is longstanding, going all the way back to having served as the international president of B’nai Brith Girls when she was seventeen years old.
