Rabbi Ilana Zietman serves on the Avodah’s Board.
Rabbi Ilana Zietman (she/her) serves as the Director of Jewish Life and Jewish Chaplain at Georgetown University. Previously, she served as the Community Rabbi for GatherDC from 2019 to 2024, engaging Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s across the Washington, DC area. She was also a member of Avodah DC’s Advisory Council from 2022 to 2026, serving as chair of the council for two years.
Rabbi Zietman received her rabbinic ordination and an MA in Jewish Education from the pluralistic seminary of Hebrew College in Boston. Prior to rabbinical school, her dedication to social justice led her to work at the Tahirih Justice Center, supporting immigrant women and girls fleeing violence. She also participated in the Avodah Service Corps, working at N Street Village, a shelter and recovery program for women. She earned dual undergraduate degrees in 2011: a BA in Religion from Barnard College and a BA in Hebrew Bible from The Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
Rabbi Zietman currently lives in Washington, DC, with her husband, Jack, their sons, Jesse and Gabriel, and their dog, Ella.
