Avodah is building a new generation of Jewish leaders to work on our country’s most pressing social and economic issues. Through our Jewish Service Corps, Justice Fellowship, Community Engagement initiatives and alumni network, we provide emerging Jewish leaders with the tools, experience, and networks they need to work for an end to poverty in America.


The Intern for Development and Communications will provide support for Avodah Chicago’s community engagement, fundraising and communications work under the supervision of the Avodah Chicago Community Director. The work will include specific project assignments as well as overall day-to-day assistance to both functional areas as needed. Job responsibilities may include:

  • Updating our donor database with information about donors and prospective donors;
  • Provide support for on-going development activities including prospect research, a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign and program marketing;
  • Attend and assist with events, related logistics and meetings;
  • Draft and/or edit communications pieces for social media and other channels;
  • Creating collateral to share with donors and stakeholders; and
  • Assisting with the administration of Avodah’s daily activities as needed.


  • Self-motivate, team player with the ability to meet deadlines and remain flexible;
  • Strong organizational skills, with keen attention to detail;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • Has self-discipline and time management skills necessary to work independently.
