We’re envisioning a better world this Passover

As we near the beginning of Pesach, I am struck by how relevant the Passover story is at this moment. From generation to generation, the story of Passover provides a powerful narrative that guides us through times of pain, suffering, and displacement.

Every year, we tell of how our ancestors escaped slavery and hardship, and envision ourselves as being liberated from Mitzrayim, the narrow place of bondage.

We too live in a narrow place, in a Mitzrayim. Turn on the news, and the narrowness and injustice befalling on the most vulnerable, can feel overwhelming.

But the Passover story is fundamentally one of hope in freedom, and our annual retelling is a way to make space for that hope.

At Avodah, we are committed to providing the resources that allow Jewish leaders to stay in the sacred work of seeking justice for all.

That’s why this year we compiled these resources from partners across the Jewish justice movement, for you to use at your Seder. The Haggadah supplements will help us turn away from the overwhelming details of the daily news cycle, and help us foster dialogue, lead prayers, and build community to vision a better future.

Wishing you a Chag Pesach sameach (Happy Passover).

May we envision a freer world together,

Cheryl Cook
CEO, Avodah
