This year, our Jewish Service Corps Members are supporting more than 450 public high school students in Brooklyn, NY through their work with the Adams Street Foundation. The Adams Street Foundation provides high-quality college, career, and enrichment programming for low-income, underserved students with a small staff of only six full-time employees (including two Avodah alumni!).
As Executive Director Ray Seaborough puts it:
“The addition of Avodah Service Corps Members has been really helpful. Corps Members allow us to co-teach our senior seminar classes and shrink the counselor-to-student ratio, so that our students are able to get individualized and small-group attention.
Each student is able to be heard and assisted with their enrichment and college process through those individual and small group touch points.
The entire school community feels supported working with the Avodah Corps Members and the support provided is monumental in pushing forward the Adams Street Foundation’s mission.”
