POSITION OVERVIEW

The Recruitment Manager is responsible for managing implementation and overseeing the recruitment of excellent candidates for the Jewish Service Corps and the Justice Fellowship programs. Through a combination of big picture outreach expertise, data driven decision making and skill in managing relationships, the Recruitment Manager spearheads an effort that extends to scores of college campuses and Jewish communal institutions around the country, as well as into progressive networks and Jewish communities in our Justice Fellowship cities. Avodah has recently invested additional resources into our recruitment program; this role will involve helping to maximize, develop and assess our newly-expanded efforts. The Recruitment Manager will also partner with and supervise other staff and alumni involved in the overall recruitment effort.  The Recruitment Manager is an integral member of the National Avodah office. They will work as part of a dynamic team, reporting to the Rabbi-in-Residence.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Developing, maintaining and strengthening relationships within and outside the larger Avodah community in service of recruitment and outreach, including traveling to campuses, Avodah program cities and conferences.
  • In partnership with the Communications Department, creating and collaborating on effective communications strategies to reach key targeted audiences with a robust communications plan across multiple media.
  • Managing and supporting the recruitment efforts of local Fellowship Directors on the ground in Chicago, Kansas City and New York City.
  • Overseeing applications for all programs in coordination with program and technology teams.
  • Handling direct communications with applicants and connectors, including answering questions about the program and managing any technical questions.
  • Building, managing, supervising and supporting a multi-site team of very part-time staff, including training, checking in, setting priorities and helping them achieve benchmarks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Impeccable relationship-building and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience and comfort with social networking and online communications;
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work and complete tasks efficiently and accurately;
  • Strong preference for experience recruiting (formally or informally);
  • Previous supervisory experience and/or marketing experience a plus;
  • Knowledge of the organized Jewish community and/or social justice a plus;
  • Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed for recruitment (Avodah has a generous comp time policy);
  • Cares deeply about leadership development and/or social justice work; and
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience.
