Tessa Zevallos joined the Avodah Team in 2019 as the National Director of Strategic Partnerships. In this newly-created position, Tessa leads the strategic efforts to grow Avodah’s network of allies, supporters, and champions and build sustainable support for Avodah’s high-impact work across the country. Based in Chicago, Tessa has worked in development since 2010, most recently serving as the Director of Development at Umoja Student Development Corporation and previously as the Associate Director of Development at Mikva Challenge. Tessa has had the privilege of working alongside several talented and passionate Avodah Corps Members and Justice Fellows at both Chicago youth organizations and is very proud to support Avodah’s mission linking faith and social justice. Tessa brings a program practitioner’s lens to fundraising, having served as a youth worker, a teacher, an advocate, and a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru before shifting to development work. Tessa earned an M.S. from Illinois State University in Sociology & Community Development and a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
