Rabbi Sandra Lawson

Rabbi Sandra Lawson serves on the Rabbinic Council at Avodah.

Rabbi Sandra Lawson works as the Inaugural Director of Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Reconstructing Judaism. She is also an activist, a public speaker, and a musician. You can also find her on many social media sites as Rabbi Sandra (Sometimes called the Snapchat Rabbi and the TikTok Rabbi). Rabbi Lawson was featured in the JTA as one of The 50 Jews everyone should follow on Twitter, and named one of the Forward 50 2020. In 2022 the Center for American Progress said she was one of 22 Faith Leaders To Watch in 2022 and is a current Schusterman Fellow.

Sandra is also a food activist, weightlifter, vegan, writer, public speaker, guitarist, and ukulele player. She holds a Masters degree in Sociology with a focus on Environmental Justice from Clark Atlanta University.
