Lena Kesden

Lena Kesden first joined Avodah as a Jewish Service Corps Member in August 2017, working as a public benefits advocate at Sanctuary for Families, the largest gender-based violence service provider in the United States. In September 2018, Lena became the Recruitment Assistant for Avodah. Lena graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies. She is both serious about the causes she fights for — politics, mental-healthcare access, trauma-informed care, and gender-based violence prevention — and lighthearted in her personal life; she’s always trying to “find the funny.” Lena loves cooking extremely flavorful meals, crafting the perfect cocktail, making mediocre art that nobody asked her to make for her five-person apartment, listening to her loved ones, and petting (ideally holding) furry mammals.
