Julia Pearlstein-Levy grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and graduated from Oberlin College in 2015 with a degree in Latin American Studies. She spent the last year living in Toluca, Mexico, and teaching English classes to middle schoolers, college students and adults. In her spare time, she loves to make art and has apprenticed with artists in Costa Rica and Mexico. She joined Avodah because she wants to learn more about community organizing, and build a career rooted in social justice nourished by Jewish values. She is excited by the prospect of working with a community of ambitious people that challenge and support one another in what can be emotionally trying work.
