Dr. Joan V. Liebermann

Dr. Joan V. Liebermann serves on the Board at Avodah. 

Dr. Liebermann is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Washington, DC. She is board-certified in internal medicine, child and adolescent psychiatry, and adult psychiatry with a particular interest in perinatal psychiatry. She is a graduate of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis where she currently serves as co-chair of the Diversities Committee and is a member of the faculty. She is also an Associate Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her professional interests include transition to young adulthood, parenting, and the psychological aspects of reproductive events. In addition, she teaches in the New Directions writing program of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis. She is also the mother of two Avodah alumni, who both served in New York City. Her daughter, Elissa Vinnik, was a corps member in 2008-2009, and her son, Aaron Vinnik, participated in 2010-2011.
