Carole Yellen (she/her) serves on the San Diego Advisory Council at Avodah.
Carole Yellen serves as the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at Jewish Family Service of San Diego where she has worked for over a decade with a variety of populations in both direct service and management capacities. Carole currently leads the JFS Community and Volunteer Engagement department which welcomes over 1600 volunteers annually to make a meaningful impact on the most pressing social issues facing our community.
Carole also leads the JFS Center for Jewish Care with the bold vision of ending Jewish poverty and strengthening community. During her tenure at JFS, Carole has also been a key leader in JFS’s crisis responses, including the Chabad Poway shooting where her on-the-ground crisis support with law enforcement and faith partners earned JFS the 2020 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.
As a JFS community liaison, Carole cultivates strong, trusted relationships with local synagogues and rabbis, Jewish and secular organizations, as well as other service providers to strengthen referral pathways, identify needs, and explore opportunities for collaboration. A native of San Diego, Carole is a lifelong learner committed building a stronger, healthier, more equitable, and resilient San Diego.
