Bonnie Buis joined Avodah in January 2017. Previously, she worked with a public affairs center, college chaplaincy and supported scientists at an institution focused on neurolinguistic research. Her approach and experience with social justice work has been wide ranging and has included teaching English to refugees in Utica, NY, expanding linguistics research to be more inclusive of the Deaf community and promoting utilization of eco-friendly transportation in New Haven, CT. Originally a Michigander, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and is delighted to be working with Avodah in NYC. While not at work, Bonnie may be found coaxing new life out of plants or forgotten objects, cooking for friends or exploring the city.
