Benjamin Bernard-Herman grew up in Oakland, California and graduated in 2014 from Swarthmore College with a B.A. in sociology and anthropology. He has been active in movements for food justice, climate justice and Jewish anti-occupation work. He is currently a master’s student at the University of Chicago, where he studies sociocultural anthropology, with a focus on food and ethics. In his spare time, he enjoys baking sourdough bread, hiking, and curling up with a good novel.
