The Justice Fellowship is a learning and community-building program that builds the field of Jewish social justice leaders in NYC and Chicago.
In a time when our country is marked by fierce division, fear, and grief, we are proud that our Justice Fellows unite around hope and action. Our Fellows—from different backgrounds, identities, and perspectives—build a community around shared values of tikkun olam (repairing the world). That community only gets larger. This year, our Chicago cohort is the largest one to date!
Together, Fellows explore social justice, Jewish life, and the powerful intersections between the two. Over eight months of sessions, retreats, and mentoring, they’ll gain community connections and Jewish insights that will foster the resilience, energy, and hope needed to sustain this work for the long haul.
Justice Fellows have experience in either their professional, volunteer, or personal lives, working on domestic social and economic justice issues. They come together from a wide range of backgrounds, in both their justice work and their Jewish identity, to form a beautifully pluralistic, diverse community built on care for each other and the shared vision of creating a more just world.
Our Fellows are organizers, non-profit staff, educators, graduate students, artists, union members, campaign volunteers, and so much more. They are committed activists, dedicating their time to advancing disability rights, environmental resilience, racial equity, LGBTQ+ and trans rights, immigration advocacy, education, public health, housing security, and food access, supporting mutual aid networks, and working to reform the criminal legal system.
Although they’ve arrived at Avodah with a wide breadth of experience serving their communities, they joined the Justice Fellowship to deepen their justice analysis and build stronger Jewish communities that are built on mutual care, diverse perspectives, and social justice.
We’re proud to have such dedicated changemakers join Avodah’s community.
